President Trump’s incoming White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney addressed a 2016 video in which he called Donald Trump a “terrible human” shortly before his election, saying the two “joked about it.” Appearing on ABC’s This Week Sunday, Mulvaney claimed he and the president had talked about it and even had a laugh about it. “We joked about it,” he insisted. “What's wrong with Washington, D.C.? People spend a lot more time looking at what people say instead of what they do.” The Daily Beast first reported on the 2016 footage after Mulvaney was named the president's chief of staff, and at the time a spokesperson for Mulvaney dismissed the clip as old news. However, Axios subsequently reported that Trump was “furious” when he heard about the video, that he asked at least one adviser, “Did you know [Mulvaney] called me ‘a terrible human being’ back during the campaign?”
