A Mickey Mouse mascot who poses for pictures at a popular tourist hotspot in Italy is accused of pulling a knife on people who refuse to pay him. The mascot, who hangs out at the Via Toledo in Naples, is reportedly well-known for encouraging people to take photos with him before harassing them for money and threatening them with a knife if they decline. So well-known are his exploits that local MP Francesco Emilio Borelli has reportedly filed a dossier of such incidents and sent them to the police. The MP said: âWe are getting many reports on this subject who, disguised as Mickey Mouse, threatens and extorts money from tourists and citizens who take pictures with him. In some videos, users claimed that the man is also armed with a knife.â He added: âWe cannot allow people like this to act undisturbed in the tourist areas of the city, damaging the image of Naples and creating a climate of fear between citizens and visitors.â Borelli has also called on law enforcement to go undercover on âmouse trapâ patrols in an attempt to capture the suspect red-handed.
