In a Thursday Fox & Friends segment, co-host Brian Kilmeade suggested there may be “some forces behind” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) after noting that he saw other people writing her questions when she grilled Michael Cohen and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross during their congressional hearings. “Well, there very well could be,” former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, a guest on the show, told Kilmeade. “I know there have been some allegations that she was almost like the Manchurian candidate—recruited, prepared. You know, I don’t know.” In response, Ocasio-Cortez wrote on Twitter that the individuals Kilmeade saw were her “leg staff” who help with questions. “[They] *also* worked in restaurants, grew up in Appalachian trailer parks, and come from immigrant families,” she wrote. “Wait until they find out I actually PAY them to do their jobs, coach them myself, & offer feedback.”
