Joseph Mifsud, the Maltese professor who allegedly promised the Trump campaign “dirt” on Hillary Clinton, is willing to testify before the U.S. Senate, a lawyer close to the professor told BuzzFeed News. “Prof Mifsud is to testify in front of the US Senate—we are working towards his appearance,” Stephan Roh, a 51-year-old Swiss lawyer, wrote in an email to BuzzFeed on Monday. This is the first word of Misfud since November 2017, when an Italian news report identified him as the unnamed professor who allegedly told former Trump campaign aide George Papadopoulos that the Russians had “dirt” on Clinton. Mifsud has previously acknowledged he met Papadopoulos “three or four times,” and helped facilitate connections between “official and unofficial sources,” but denied any wrongdoing.
