It’s a big movie designed to do big numbers, and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol isn’t disappointing. The Tom Cruise blockbuster is expected to bring in another $31.3 million over the holiday weekend, bringing its domestic total to $134.2 million and pushing its global gross toward $350 million. It was a jolt of good news for an ailing film industry: in 2011, movie attendance fell to a 16-year low and the U.S. box office totals were down 3.4 percent from 2010.
