Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant (R) on Monday signed into law the toughest abortion restrictions in the country. The legislation, as written, bans most abortions after 15 weeks. It creates exemptions when the life of the mother is at risk, but there are no exemptions for rape or incest, which are commonly supported by pro-life groups. According to the Associated Press, the owner of the state’s only abortion facility has vowed to take legal action in response.
