Several dozen women who currently or previously worked at NBC News have thrown their support behind veteran media personality Tom Brokaw after a former colleague accused him of sexual harassment. In a letter signed by 64 women—including Mika Brzezinski, Rachel Maddow, Andrea Mitchell, and Maria Shriver, among others—Brokaw is described as a “man of tremendous decency and integrity.” “Tom has treated each of us with fairness and respect. He has given each of us opportunities for advancement and championed our successes throughout our careers. As we have advanced across industries—news, publishing, law, business and government—Tom has been a valued source of counsel and support,” the letter read. The former Nightly News anchor was accused by former NBC anchor Linda Vester earlier this week of making unwanted sexual advances when she worked there in the 1990s. Brokaw has strongly denied the claims and described Vester as a “character assassin” who had a grudge against the network.
