Morrissey, the influential singer known for his gloomy lyrics and melodic dirges that often hit the pop charts, says he has received several treatments to remove cancerous tissue. The former Smiths frontman revealed the news in typical droll and fatalistic fashion. “They have scraped tissues on four occasions already, but whatever,” he said. “If I die, I die. If not, then no.” The dour 55-year-old British singer, in the news recently for supporting Scottish independence, has had to cancel tours in recent years because of ill health. Previously acknowledged ailments included a bleeding ulcer and double pneumonia. Morrissey says he’s feeling good right now.
