George Zimmerman’s family took the stand at his trial for the second-degree murder for the shooting of Trayvon Martin, with his mother and uncle testifying the screams heard on the recording of a 911 call belonged to Zimmerman. Earlier, Sybrina Fulton, Martin’s mother, said that the voice was her son’s. “I heard my son screaming,” she said from the witness stand, adding that she knew it was him the minute she heard the recording. Martin’s older brother, another of the nearly three dozen witnesses called by the prosecution, gave similar testimony. After the prosecution rested earlier in the day, the defense had asked for the case to be thrown out, but the Florida judge rejected the acquittal motion. The trial is in recess until Monday 9 a.m.
