Burning lava from the spectacular eruption of Congo’s Mt. Nyiragongo breached the city limits of Goma, causing a mass evacuation reminiscent of the eruption of 2002 that left 120,000 people homeless and killed hundreds. By early Sunday, lava flows towards Goma had slowed, but a series of tremors rattled the city. Thousands have fled across the border with Rwanda.
