The first season ended months ago, and there was no talk of flashing any more 'Skins'. Now MTV said it is cancelling the risqué show that came under criticism of depicting suburban teenagers in a haze of drugs, sex and alcohol, especially since some of the scenes involve underage actors. The controversy piqued some interest, but advertisers turned away. The creators pointed out that the series was actually quite an old-fashioned show. But MTV made a calculated risk—'Skins' was first a popular British show—and in a statement it said that the remake, “unfortunately, didn’t connect with a U.S. audience.”
