Special counsel Robert Mueller delivered subpoenas to a “social media expert” who worked with Roger Stone—an adviser to President Donald Trump during the 2016 campaign—and the expert’s lawyer, according to Reuters. Jason Sullivan was hired by Stone as a “social media and Twitter specialist” to work for an “independent political action committee he set up to support Trump.” Reuters reports that the subpoenas suggest that Mueller may be looking into whether or not Stone had knowledge about “material allegedly hacked by Russian intelligence” and sent to WikiLeaks’ Julian Assange before the site posted it. Sources said Mueller is looking at whether anyone on the Trump campaign “may have helped Assange or the Russians time or target the release of hacked emails[.]” Sullivan heads the social-media firm Cyphoon.com, which specializes in social-media “swarms” and “weaponized social media.”
