A Navy engineer, 35-year-old Mostafa Ahmed Awwad was arrested on Friday for attempting to steal the schematics of the Navy’s newest nuclear aircraft carrier and pass them on to the Egyptian government. Awwad, of Yorktown, Virginia, stole the schematics of the USS Gerald R. Ford and passed them to an undercover FBI agent posing as an Egyptian government official. Awwad is being charged with two counts of attempted exportation of defense articles and technical data and faces a maximum of 20 years in prison.
