Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant has issued a statement publicly apologizing after he posted an Instagram Live video showing him brandishing a gun in a nightclub early Saturday. “I take full responsibility for my actions last night. I’m sorry to my family, teammates, coaches, fans, partners, the city of Memphis and the entire Grizzlies organization for letting you down,” Morant said. Morant further promised to “take some time away to get help and work on learning better methods of dealing with stress and my overall well-being.” The apology came after the video sparked an NBA investigation and led the Grizzles to bench Morant for at least two games. It’s not the first time Morant has been in the headlines for firearms; The Washington Post recently reported that he brandished one during an altercation last summer, which his agent has denied.
