NBC has reportedly tracked down and fired a Today show editor responsible for leaking video footage of MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell’s widely viewed, curse-laden rant against his own staff. In the infamous clip, the Last Word host screams about “insanity in the control room” and “fucking out-of-control shit,” at one point repeatedly imploring an unseen person to “stop the hammering!” According to the New York Post, NBC “identified, confronted and fired on Sept. 26,” six days after the tape leaked online. “It turned out to be a ‘Today’ show editor who said he did it because he thought it was funny,” the Post additionally reported, based on sources.
