NBC News political correspondent Luke Russert announced Wednesday that he will depart the network to pursue other interests. In a memo to his colleagues, the son of late Meet the Press moderator Tim Russert said “while it’s hard to leave, it’s the right decision for me at this time.” He noted that his broadcast career “began in an unusual way after college graduation and the death of my father,” and so he “threw [himself] into the work” without taking time to experience life as a young adult. “Now at 30, I look forward to taking some time away from political reporting and focusing my efforts on other endeavors I’ve long wanted to pursue.”
