New Hampshire Democratic Party officials announced they’ve dropped former President Bill Clinton’s name from their annual fall gala. While no reason was given for disassociating the event from Clinton, he’s recently come under renewed scrutiny from #MeToo activists over his 1990s affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky. The fundraiser will now be called the “Eleanor Roosevelt Dinner,” in honor of the former first lady and diplomat, replacing the “Kennedy-Clinton Dinner” that recognized Clinton and fellow former President John F. Kennedy. “Eleanor Roosevelt was an historic trailblazer whose compassion, bravery, and intelligence drove her to speak out at a time when women were too often silenced and related to the sidelines of history,” said Ray Buckley, the state party chairman. “The Eleanor Roosevelt Dinner is particularly fitting given our party’s steadfast commitment to electing Democratic women.”
