Police in the New Jersey resort town of Wildwood have opened an internal investigation into three of their own officers after one of them was caught on camera repeatedly punching a 20-year-old woman in the head during an arrest on the beach. The Wildwood Police Department announced Sunday that the officers involved have been placed on administrative duty after the “alarming” video came to light. In the 54-second clip taken by a bystander, one officer can be seen striking a young woman in the head with a closed fist before flipping her over with his arm across her neck. A second officer then joins the first in restraining the woman, while a third holds the crowd back. The woman, identified as Emily Weinman, faces charges of aggravated assault on an officer and being a minor in possession of alcohol.
