The beleagured, $400 billion F-35 Joint Strike Fighter has suffered its latest setback. A new report indicates the fighter jet was walloped in a battle with the outdated F-16. The F-35 stealth jet was meant to be the crown jewel in America’s next-generation air force, but the scathing test-pilot report reveals the new jet can’t turn fast enough to fight off other jets in close aerial combat. In a press release in response to the criticism, F-35 manufacturer Lockheed Martin said, “The F-35’s technology is designed to engage, shoot, and kill its enemy from long distances.” The new report raises serious alarm as many analysts question the steath jet’s ability to combat new Russian and Chinese fighter jets.
