New York Times Editorial Board Calls for Biden to ‘Leave the Race’
NO FRIENDS
Just in case The New York Times thought that their front page did not have enough opinion pieces pleading with President Joe Biden to step aside following his performance at Thursday’s debate, the Times’ editorial board released its own appeal to the President. Scrawled across the front page of the Times’ website was a new plea from the editorial board, “To Serve His Country, President Biden Should Leave the Race.” Seven paragraphs down, past ridicule against former President Trump, the board wrote, “As it stands, the president is engaged in a reckless gamble.” The Times added that Biden “appeared on Thursday night as the shadow of a great public servant,” adding that that there are candidates “better equipped to present clear, compelling and energetic alternatives.” It continued: “It’s too big a bet to simply hope Americans will overlook or discount Mr. Biden’s age and infirmity.” The board added that calling for a new nominee was a decision that they did not make “lightly,” but reflects the “seriousness of Mr. Trump’s challenge to the values and institutions of this country and the inadequacy of Mr. Biden to confront him.”
