In a radio interview Thursday, former congressman Newt Gingrich said he’d consider returning as House speaker if he had the 218 votes necessary to be elected. The suggestion came in response to the stunning news that frontrunner Kevin McCarthy will no longer seek the position, leaving Republicans in disarray as they attemp to find a new congressional leader.
