Because apparently a day cannot go by without Fox News devoting a chunk of its airtime to obsessing over freshman Democratic congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Fox News host Sean Hannity brought on former House Speaker Newt Gingrich Wednesday evening to label AOC a “joke” whose views are based on “whatever random thought” she has in the morning.
Ostensibly discussing Ocasio-Cortez accusing Wells Fargo of "financing the caging of children," the conversation quickly shifted to personal attacks on the rising progressive star. After Hannity complained that AOC is going to take away cows and planes while bringing about “robotic socialists,” Gingrich informed viewers he was going to give his assessment of Ocasio-Cortez “as a historian.”
“In a normal, healthy society, Alexandria would be seen as this interesting graduate student who had gotten into some college with a good student loan,” he said. “Hung out a lot and smoked a little grass, drank a little beer, had a good time.”

The Fox News contributor continued: “Once read half of book, knows nothing. And nobody would take her seriously. In a healthy society, she would be a joke. She doesn't know anything. Her views are based on whatever random thought comes in that morning, and her proposals are beyond silly.”
The former congressional leader went on to challenge Ocasio-Cortez to a debate “at any college campus in the country,” but cautioned she would win if allowed to “scream and set up deeply heartfelt symbolism.”
After the two Trump loyalists warned Fox viewers of the dangers of socialism by invoking Venezuela and Cuba, Hannity ended the segment with a bit of a nonsensical disclaimer.
“Just for the record, we don't know if AOC ever smoked weed although a lot of liberals now who care about late-term abortion, and during birth abortion, and even after birth yes they want to legalize weed—a lot of liberals do,” the top-rated host concluded.
