A Newtown Middle School teacher was arrested Wednesday for allegedly bringing a firearm to the school. Eighth-grade science teacher Jason Adams was charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds after police responded to a call that an employee was seen carrying a gun. “This matter is very serious and troubling, both the Newtown Public School system and the Newtown Police Department took immediate steps to address the matter,” the school district said in a statement. In 2012, gunman Adam Lanza opened fire at the district's Sandy Hook Elementary School, killing 20 children and six adults.
