NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell agreed Thursday to personally hear an appeal from New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady for his four-game suspension over deflated footballs used in the AFC Championship game. Goodell rejected the players union’s request to appoint a neutral arbitrator and instead decided to preside over the case, which is allowed under the collective bargaining agreement, league officials said.
