Nick Ayers Will Not Be Donald Trump's Next Chief of Staff

Trump and Nick Ayers were “unable to agree on a time frame for the job.”

One day after President Trump announced that his Chief of Staff John Kelly will be leaving around the end of the year, the man who was rumored to be the front-runner to replace him announced he, too, is leaving the administration. In a tweet, Nick Ayers, who is currently Vice President Mike Pence's chief of staff said that he “will be departing at the end of the year.” The Wall Street Journal reported that team Trump and Nick Ayers were “unable to agree on a time frame for the job.” Trump wanted a two-year commitment, but Ayers was looking for a shorter commitment because of “family concerns.” Ayers is the father of 6-year-old triplets.
