The New York City Police Department has closed two sexual-assault cases against chef Mario Batali, TMZ reports. Investigators reportedly could not find enough evidence to make an arrest. One woman filed a police report last year claiming Batali raped her in his Babbo restaurant in 2004, while another woman told 60 Minutes that Batali sexually assaulted her in 2005. A senior law-enforcement official told The Daily Beast that a total of four cases involving Batali were investigated by the NYPD, but only one of the cases was within the statute of limitations. That case was investigated by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, the source added, but there wasn’t enough evidence to make an arrest.
