Protesters in Durham, North Carolina, toppled a Confederate monument Monday night. The monument, which is engraved with “The Confederate States of America,” depicts a Confederate soldier. Activists had previously campaigned for its removal. Protesters tied a rope around the statue and pulled until it fell from its pedestal and bent in half on the ground.
