New York is the city of second chances for Plaxico Burress. The former Giants wide receiver—a tabloid favorite after he went to prison for shooting himself in the leg—has signed with the New York Jets. The Jets will pay Burress just over $3 million for a one-year deal. Burress caught the Giants’ 2005 Super Bowl-winning pass, but in 2008, he accidentally shot himself in the leg at a nightclub while he had kept a gun in the waistband of his sweatpants. He subsequently served two years in prison for criminal possession of a handgun, but he vowed he would return to the game.
