Mayor Bill de Blasio’s call for a pause in protests was rejected Tuesday after a group of about 200 demonstrators marched through midtown Manhattan. The mayor asked protesters to suspend demonstrations over police conduct until after the funerals of the two NYPD officers who were shot and killed Saturday. A man a fatally shot officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos in Brooklyn reportedly over the police killings of Eric Garner and Michael Brown. Media outlets report protesters chanting, “NYPD, KKK, how many kids did you kill today?” and “How do you spell murderers? NYPD!” Earlier Tuesday, de Blasio asked for a moment of silence at City Hall to honor the slain officers.
