Law firm Clare Locke, which has boasted about “killing stories,” did work for New York Times reporter Glenn Thrush and former Today show host Matt Lauer after they were accused of sexual harassment. Thrush personally retained the firm, which is owned by couple Tom Clare and Elizabeth “Libby” Locke, to send a letter to Vox after he was accused of sexual harassment by multiple women, The Daily Beast’s Lachlan Cartwright reports. The letter suggested the outlet “look into” one of the alleged victim’s relationships at another publication. Clare Locke has brought cases against a number of major publications including Rolling Stone, The New York Times, CNN, and Gawker. “Some of Libby’s biggest defamation ‘wins’ are stories the public will never hear about,” her website says. A source also told The Daily Beast that the firm was able to put pressure on a Washington Post investigation about CBS’ Charlie Rose to “slow it down and in effect change the dynamic.”
