During a news conference after talks with leaders of six Arab countries at Camp David, Md., President Obama said he assured the leaders that the U.S. would stand with them if they were attacked by external forces. He also said that he had tried to calm their anxieties over America’s talks with Iran about its nuclear program and that, like them, the U.S. is concerned about ISIS’s “destabilizing actions in the region.” The U.S. and the six Arab nations that form the Gulf Cooperation Council also announced new military commitments that involve cooperation between them, another step toward assuaging fears about the U.S.’s nuclear talks with Iran allowing ISIS to hold on to nuclear capability.
