The G7, formerly known as the G8, is meeting in the Netherlands on Monday to work out how to punish Russia for the annexation of Ukraine's Crimea. At the summit, President Obama declared that he wants Russia suspended from the G8. While there, British Prime Minister David Cameron declared that the planned summer G8 summit in Sochi will no longer take place in Russia. The country was admitted in 1998, joining Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Britain, and the U.S. Obama also addressed the U.S. commitment to NATO, telling a Dutch newspaper, "No one should ever question the commitment of the United States to the security of Europe." Meanwhile, in retaliation, Russia announced travel bans on 13 Canadian politicians, including Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
