Hulu’s Oscars livestream cut off just before the biggest moments of the night, leaving viewers streaming at home furious.
In a moment that will surely go down in Oscars history—and certainly technical snafu history—the first-ever livestream of the Academy Awards left countless viewers seething when it cut out just seconds before the night’s most anticipated moments: the Best Actress and Best Picture announcements.
That means they missed they biggest surprise of the night: Anora star Mikey Madison upsetting The Substance’s Demi Moore and winning Best Actress. Anora continued its sweep by winning Best Picture soon after.
Seconds before the Best Actress award was to be revealed, the stream cut off. Gone. And almost immediately, a chorus of seething viewers took to social media to vent their frustrations.
“@hulu ending the livestream right before Best Actress… oh, you motherf****** will be dealt with,” one irate user posted.
Another chimed in with the succinct, “@hulu F*** YOU.”
Others demanded restitution for the botched live stream experience.
“@hulu owes people money,” one user demanded.
However, some users blamed it on how long Adrien Brody’s speech was after winning Best Actor for his role in The Brutalist.
“Adrien Brody really took so long hulu said shows over.”
Angry tweets—and, as the internet’s way—plenty of jokes soon flooded social media.
Hulu, you have some damage control to do.
