A freight train pulling 103 cars carrying crude oil derailed and burst into flames near Galena, Ilinois, on Thursday afternoon. There were no injuries and no cause for the derailment has been reported yet, but authorities suggested that everyone within one mile of the crash evacuate. Reuters reported Thursday that last year the Obama administration considered developing national standards to control explosive gas on oil trains, but ultimately decided to ditch the effort and leave the matter to North Dakota, where much of it comes from.
