The University of Mississippi has removed from its campus the state flag featuring the Confederate battle emblem. The official lowering of the flag comes several days after the school’s student government adopted a resolution calling for the removal of the banner from campus grounds. The move is especially bold considering the school’s historic struggle with Deep South racial tensions.
