The grandfather of NFL superstar Patrick Mahomes is “hanging on” to life in hospice to watch the quarterback compete for his third straight Super Bowl win this Sunday, according to a report. Mahomes’ mother, Randi Mahomes, toldPeople that her father, Randy Martin, is on his last legs. While Martin, 78, has memory struggles, Randi told the outlet that he never forgets what day the upcoming Super Bowl is on. “I know that it has meant a lot to him,” she said. “And I think he’s hanging on because he wants to see his grandson do an amazing thing or just let him play.” She added that she has been sharing updates with the Kansas City Chiefs star about his grandfather’s health, although she doesn’t want to distract from his preparation for the championship match against the Philadelphia Eagles. Randi said that Martin is “such a proud grandpa.” Randi had previously shared her father’s health struggle in September, asking for prayers. She announced in January that he had entered hospice care. The two-time NFL MVP is the son of Randi and former MLB pitcher Pat Mahomes.
