Paul Manafort will cooperate with special counsel Robert Mueller’s team in their continued investigation of alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, according to prosecutors in the case. Prosecutor Andrew Weissmann announced in court that the former Trump campaign chairman had cut a “cooperation agreement”—moments after Manafort pleaded guilty Friday to one count of conspiracy and one count of conspiracy to obstruct justice, and avoided a second trial in Washington. The 17-page agreement reportedly says the remaining charges against Manafort will be dropped at sentencing or at the end of his cooperation. In reaction to the news, President Donald Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani said in a statement that “an investigation has concluded with a plea having nothing to do with President Trump or the Trump campaign. The reason: The president did nothing wrong and Paul Manafort will tell the truth.”
