Contrary to what some apparently believe, a Facebook outage is not an emergency. Facebook went down for a half hour-ish on Friday morning, prompting several people to dial 911. “#Facebook is not a Law Enforcement issue, please don’t call us about it being down, we don’t know when FB will be back up!” L.A. County Sergeant Burton Brinks tweeted in response to the calls. For its part, Facebook issued an apology for the outage soon after it started. “Earlier this morning, some people had trouble accessing Facebook for a short time. We quickly investigated and have fully restored service for everyone. We’re sorry for the inconvenience,” it said in a statement.
