Chicago Police have released still images from surveillance footage of two people described as "persons of interest" in the alleged attack on Empire star Jussie Smollett. “Photos of people of interest who were in area of the alleged assault & battery of Empire cast member,” Chicago Police Chief Communications Officer Anthony Guglielmi tweeted out late Wednesday along with the images. “While video does not capture an encounter, detectives are taking this development seriously & wish to question individuals as more cameras are being reviewed,” he wrote. Police had announced that the search area for cameras was expanded after no footage of the attack turned up late Tuesday. The incident is said to have taken place in the Streeterville neighborhood of Chicago around 2 a.m. Smollett, who is openly gay, told police he was assaulted by two suspects who allegedly yelled “racial and homophobic slurs,” and tied a rope around his neck.
