Thirty-two people were allegedly killed overnight in the Philippines, as part of President Rodrigo Duterte’s war on drugs. Duterte, who ran his campaign on promising a quick-fix to wiping out crime, has said he is “happy to slaughter” millions of drug users and has roundly dismissed the deaths of children as “collateral damage.” His supporters have nicknamed him "the Punisher," but human rights groups the world over have warned that the 72-year-old could be perpetrating crimes against humanity as part of his crusade. In addition to the 32 deaths overnight, more than 100 people were reportedly arrested. Since he took office, Duterte has led police to kill at least 3,451 “drug personalities,” according to The Guardian.
