Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Robbie Ray took a 108-mile-per-hour line drive to the head in a game against the Cardinals on Friday night. Shocked fans in St. Louis watched as Ray fell to the ground clutching his head after being struck by Luke Voit’s line drive. With his teammates rushing to his side, Ray was on the ground for several minutes before he managed to stand and wave to the crowd as he was carted off the field. He later received stitches for a head wound and will now go through concussion protocol for the next few days.
