Warning: the average American woman is too heavy to use the morning-after pill. The European manufacturer of a morning-after pill called Norvelo—which is identical to popular emergency contraception like Plan B One-Step, Next Choice One Dose, and My Way—is adding a label to the drug noting that it is completely ineffective for women who weigh over 176 lbs. Effectiveness begins to take a hit at 1 lb more than the average American women: 165 lbs. Plan B One-Step is currently the only emergency contraceptive that women of all ages can purchase without a prescription. In early 2014, the European drug, Norvelo, will come equipped with a warning that it is not recommended for women weighing 165 lbs or more.
