Police have arrested two suspects in Friday’s mass shooting at a park in Las Cruces, N.M. Tomas Rivas, 20, and a 17-year-old boy, whose name was withheld because he is a juvenile, were charged with three counts of murder on Sunday for the attack, which claimed the lives of three teenagers and injured 15, several of whom are still “fighting for their lives” in the hospital, police said. Police revealed the names of the three victims—Andrew Madrid, 16; Jason Gomez, 18; and Dominick Estrada, 19—as well as further details of the crime, which took place between two rival groups at an illegal car meet in Young Park. “We know that there is some type of ill will between these groups prior to last night. They had some issues before, and it escalated last night,” Las Cruces Police Chief Jeremy Story said. The New York Post reported that around 50 shell casings were found at the scene, all from handguns. The investigation is still ongoing, and police expect more charges against the pair in the coming days.
