PolitiFact on Tuesday announced their “Lie of the Year” for 2017: President Trump’s repeated denial of Russian interference in the 2016 election. “A mountain of evidence points to a single fact: Russia meddled in the U.S. presidential election of 2016,” the fact-checking website wrote. “After all this, one man keeps saying it didn’t even happen.” PolitiFact cited Trump having called the proven election meddling a “made-up story,” a “hoax,” or “fake news,” while declaring that he believes Russian President Vladimir Putin when he says the Kremlin did not such interference.
