In the aftermath of the President Trump’s Helsinki summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin, 71 percent of Republicans surveyed surveyed in a new Reuters/Ipsos poll approved Trump's “handling of Russia.” 55 percent of registered voters said they disapproved of how Trump was handling relations with Russia, while only 37 percent approved. The poll also found that only 32 percent of Republicans said they believe U.S. intelligence agencies’ conclusions that Russia interfered in the 2016 election—compared to 59 percent of all registered voters and 84 percent of Democrats. Trump Tuesday reluctantly walked back his comments from a Monday press conference with Putin in which the American president cast doubt on the intelligence community’s consensus that Russia had meddled in our election.
