Southern California Gas Co. announced Thursday that it had at least temporarily stopped a gas leak from a well near Porter Ranch. The broken well head had forced thousands to leave their homes and was blasting unprecedented levels of the greenhouse-gas methane in to the air over California since late October. Officials are now pumping in liquids in to try to control the flow of gas from the well which could eventually keep the leak stopped permanently.
