President-elect Donald Trump has again hinted that he is far from done with legal battles after his $15 million settlement with ABC and its star anchor George Stephanopoulos.
On his Truth Social platform, Trump reposted a photo of E. Jean Carroll with large letters that read: âShould a woman go to jail for falsely accusing a man of rape? Retruth if you want justice for Trump.â
The comments are among a slew of posts and reposts from the incoming president in which he has suggested that he will try to jail or take legal action against his enemies, including former Wyoming representative Liz Cheney, President Joe Biden and even poll workers.
Trump has already lost two defamation suits against Carroll. Her lawyer, Roberta Kaplan, told a New York Times reporter in May that her team would consider further action against him after he posted disparaging remarks on Truth Social. Kaplan could not immediately be reached for comment.
âWe have said several times since the last jury verdict in January that all options were on the table. And that remains true todayâall options are on the table,â Kaplan said at the time.
Democrats and opposing Republicans have been bracing for Trumpâs second turn, including President Biden who pardoned his son Hunter to protect him from further legal action.
President Bidenâs administration has also even considered drawing up a pardon list to protect Trumpâs critics from his ire. However, top Democratic Adam Schiff warned against setting a precedent.
âThe precedent of giving blanket pardons, preemptive blanket pardons on the way out of an administration, I think is a precedent we donât want to set,â Schiff said in an interview on ABC Newsâ This Week, according to The Hill.
