President Trump Will Attend George H.W. Bush's Funeral

President Trump plans on attending George H.W. Bush’s funeral in Washington, D.C., and has declared this coming Wednesday a national day of mourning, according to The Washington Post. Despite the bitter family rivalry, according many of the family’s confidants the elder Bush said he wanted President Trump to attend his funeral, Politico reports. Trump, who is presently in Argentina for the Group of 20 summit, was briefed overnight of Bush’s death. White House Spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said that Trump is planning to speak with Bush’s oldest son, former President George W. Bush, at some point Saturday morning. “A state funeral is being arranged with all of the accompanying support and honors,” Sanders said of the funeral, which will take place at Washington National Cathedral. First Lady Melania Trump also plans to attend, Sanders said. While Trump touted Bush’s “unflappable leadership” in a statement after his death, the 41st President was a critic of Trump, calling him an egotistical  “blowhard.” Trump did not attend the last high-profile funeral in Washington, D.C., for John McCain. Trump wasn’t welcome at the former Arizona senator’s services due to their poor relationship.
