Prince Charles, currently on a tour of Canada, has put his foot in it by comparing Russian President Vladimir Putin to Adolph Hitler during a conversation with a museum volunteer. According to Marienne Ferguson, the volunteer, she was telling Charles about her Jewish family fleeing Poland to Canada in 1939 when Charles replied, “And now Putin is doing just about the same as Hitler.” The Palace said it does not comment on private conversations, but added, “We would like to stress that the Prince of Wales would not seek to make a public political statement during a private conversation.”
