The stigma surrounding mental-health issues still persists. So much so, that even Prince William couldn’t convince stars to join a campaign addressing the issue, he revealed at a talk in Davos, Switzerland, on Wednesday. “What was interesting when we set up the campaign, not one celebrity wanted to join us,” the prince said. “Not one person wanted to be involved in the mental-health campaign Heads Together.” William went on to stress that he, together with his wife, Kate Middleton, and brother Prince Harry, reached out to “a lot of people” and “nobody” was interested. William said he understands their hesitation, sharing that he himself has experiences from working as an ambulance pilot that he “still [finds] very difficult to talk about.” “I get very emotional about it because it relates very closely to my children, and so it is very hard to talk about it,” he said. The royal father of three added that since the Heads Together campaign began three years ago, more and more people have come forward to work with the initiative. “It’s now become a lot easier to talk about,” William said. “And that was the whole point of the campaign—to allow people to feel the freedom and the space to talk about it and not feel there was a stigma.”
